Church in Tolworth
If you’re looking for a church in Tolworth, you may be surprised to discover a relatively new and growing Christian community right in the heart of the area. Hope Church Tolworth is a church plant that began in 2024, with a clear vision: to make disciples of Jesus and serve the local community with the message of the Bible.
A New Church for Tolworth
Hope Church Tolworth officially launched on Sunday 24th November 2024, bringing together people from two existing congregations, Cornerstone Church Kingston and Emmanuel Church Tolworth. This partnership formed a new church family with a shared commitment to the gospel of Jesus Christ.
From the beginning, there has been a strong sense of purpose. The church was planted not simply to start something new, but to reach an area, particularly the Sunray Estate, where there had been little active church presence. The vision is both local and outward-looking, aiming to build a welcoming community and share the Christian message across Tolworth.
What the Church Believes
At its core, Hope Church Tolworth is Bible-centred. It teaches that the gospel, the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, is the foundation of Christian faith and hope. This hope is rooted in real events and in God’s mercy.
The church also follows the pattern of the early Christian community described in Acts 2:42, with a focus on teaching, fellowship, prayer, and shared life. This shapes both Sunday services and midweek gatherings.
What to Expect on a Sunday
Hope Church Tolworth meets every Sunday morning at 10:30am at Knollmead Primary School. Visitors are welcome to arrive early for refreshments and to meet others.
A typical service includes:
Singing a mix of modern and traditional worship songs
Prayer and church updates
A Bible talk lasting around 30 minutes
Activities for children and youth
Families are an important part of church life. There are groups for children, a crèche for younger ones, and opportunities for young people to learn more about the Bible.
A Growing Community
Although still young, the church is already active in the local area. Events such as holiday clubs, prayer walks, and outreach activities are helping to build connections with residents.
There is also a strong emphasis on relationships. Shared meals, monthly lunches, and prayer meetings help create a sense of belonging. From the first service, where volunteers worked together to set up and welcome guests, the church has shown a culture of service and hospitality.
A Church for Everyone
One of the defining features of Hope Church Tolworth is its openness. Whether you are exploring Christianity for the first time, returning after many years, or already part of a church, you are invited to come along.
